Ease of intubation and hemodynamic responses to nasotracheal intubation using C-MAC videolaryngoscope with D blade: A comparison with use of traditional Macintosh laryngoscope
Journal of Anaesthesiology Clinical Pharmacology Oct 15, 2018
Rajan S, et al. - Researchers compared C-MAC videolaryngoscope-assisted nasal intubation using D blade to traditional Macintosh laryngoscope-aided nasal intubation, mainly in terms of ease of intubation. Additionally, they also compared intubation time, attempts, trauma, and hemodynamic stress responses. General anesthesia as per a standardized protocol was administered to 60 patients requiring nasal intubation. These patients were randomized into group M, which underwent laryngoscopy using the traditional Macintosh laryngoscope, and group V with Storz C-Mac videolaryngoscope with D-blade. Findings demonstrated superiority of C MAC videolaryngoscope-aided nasotracheal intubation using D blade vs traditional Macintosh laryngoscope because the former offered easier, quicker, and less traumatic intubation.
