Early effects of the trauma collaborative care intervention: Results from a prospective multicenter cluster clinical trial

Researchers examined how the Trauma Collaborative Care (TCC) program's early intervention components affect 6-week outcomes. Development of TCC was done to improve psychosocial sequelae of orthopedic trauma; it included the Trauma Survivors Network and additional collaborative care services. They conducted prospective, multicenter, cluster clinical trial including individuals with high-energy orthopedic injuries requiring surgery and hospital admission: 413 patients at 6 trauma centers implementing the TCC program and 374 patients at 6 trauma centers receiving usual care. As per outcomes, TCC seems to have a small positive effect on early outcomes, however there was substantial variation in the utilization of intervention components among sites.
