Diurnal variations in the first 24/7 mobile stroke unit
Stroke Jun 28, 2019
Zaidat OO, et al. - In this investigation, researchers studied 24/7 mobile stroke unit (MSU) diurnal variations connected to transport frequency, patient features, and stroke treatments. For this analysis, they compared the frequency of transportation, demographics, thrombolytic and mechanical thrombectomy administration, and treatment metrics across eight-hour shifts (morning, evening, and nocturnal) from the 24/7 MSU in Northwest Ohio prospective database. According to results, the MSU transferred 195 patients. The morning shift had the most transportations, followed by evening shift, and nocturnal shift. It was noted that 23 patients received intravenous thrombolytic in the MSU, most often in the morning shift. Findings revealed that most MSU transports (88.1%) and therapeutic interventions were during morning and evening shifts. No mechanical thrombectomy cases were performed in the nocturnal shift on MSU patients.
