Discriminative ability of CHA2DS2-VASc and HAS-BLED score in whites and non-whites
The American Journal of Cardiology Mar 25, 2019
Schwartz SM, et al. – Researchers investigated whether CHA2DS2-VASc and HAS-BLED scores offer different risk estimations for stroke and bleeding, respectively, among white vs non-white atrial fibrillation (AF) patients in this retrospective cohort study. Researchers examined AF patients not prescribed anticoagulation to determine the links between stroke and CHA2DS2-VASc score, and assessed the link between incident bleeding and HAS-BLED score in anticoagulated patients. Findings revealed that non-white patients less frequently received oral anticoagulation prescriptions. However, CHA2DS2-VASc and HAS-BLED demonstrated similar discriminative ability between whites and non-white individuals.
