Discontinuing or continuing statin following intracerebral hemorrhage from the view of a national cohort study
Atherosclerosis Sep 07, 2018
Chung CM, et al. - Researchers assessed the value of continuing statin therapy following intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) by analyzing data on patients with ICH from the National Health Insurance Research Database of Taiwan. They identified 114,101 patients with ICH; of these, 2,468 patients with dyslipidemia and ICH were included. Outcomes of those who continued statin treatment vs those who discontinued it were analyzed. Patients who continued statin treatment had a lower risk of all-cause mortality after ICH vs those who discontinued statin treatment; this was especially noted in those treated with hydrophilic statins.
