Digitalis therapy and risk of recurrent ventricular tachyarrhythmias and ICD therapies in atrial fibrillation and heart failure
Cardiology Jun 15, 2019
Schupp T, et al. - In implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) recipients with atrial fibrillation (AF) and heart failure (HF), researchers evaluated the influence of treatment with digitalis on recurrences of ventricular tachyarrhythmias. They included a total of 394 ICD recipients with AF and/or HF. Digital patients were compared to patients without digital treatment. Treatment with digitalis was linked to increased rates of recurrent ventricular tachyarrhythmias and ICD therapies among ICD recipients suffering from AF and HF. The endpoints, however, may have also been driven by interactions between digital, AF, and HF.
