BMC Cancer Jan 21, 2019

Ziyu Li, et al. - This study is the first to investigate if ypTNM stage has the same prognostic implication as pTNM stage for gastric cancer. Researchers analyzed 1,441 patients from a prospectively maintained database containing all patients treated with gastric cancer in Peking University Cancer Hospital. Findings revealed different prognostic implication of ypTNM stage from pTNM stage. In particular, worse prognosis was evident for patients with specific ypTNM stage when compared to those at the same pathological stage defined by pTNM. Such difference varied by the specific TNM stage of patients.
