Dietary sulfur-containing amino acids are associated with higher prevalence of overweight/obesity in Northern Chinese adults, an internet-based cross-sectional study

Annals of Nutrition and Metabolism Jun 15, 2018

Li Y, et al. - Researchers evaluated the links between dietary sulfur-containing amino acids (SAAs) and prevalence of obesity, lipid profiles, and status of insulin resistance (IR), inflammation and oxidative stress in humans. Study participants were asked to complete internet-based dietary questionnaire for Chinese (IDQC) for the estimation of their dietary SAAs intake. A subgroup study was also carried out in 90 randomly selected subjects. Findings demonstrated an association of dietary SAAs with higher prevalence of overweight/obesity, unfavorable lipid profiles and status of IR, and inflammation among study participants.
