Ma W, et al. - This study was performed to investigate if dietary intakes of glutamine, glutamate, and their ratio were associated with total and cause-specific mortality. In US men and women, the researchers found an inverse association of dietary glutamine and glutamine-to-glutamate ratio with the risk of mortality, particularly cardiovascular mortality, independent of other dietary and lifestyle factors.
