Dietary acrylamide intake and risk of esophageal, gastric, and colorectal cancer: The Japan Public Health Center-based Prospective Study
Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention Jun 19, 2019
Liu R, et al. - Researchers used data from the Japan Public Health Center-based Prospective Study to assess the link between dietary acrylamide intake and esophageal, gastric, and colorectal cancer. Overall 87,628 participants were included. Hazards ratios and 95% confidence intervals were estimated after adjusting for confounding factors, using Cox proportional hazards regression models. In the multivariable-adjusted model, the multivariate hazard ratio of 0.86, 0.84, and 0.93 was reported for esophageal, gastric, and colorectal cancer, respectively, for the highest quintile vs the lowest quintile of acrylamide consumption. Overall, no link was evident between dietary acrylamide intake and increased risk of esophageal, gastric, or colorectal cancer among the Japanese population.
