Diet and physical activity in the association between depression and metabolic syndrome: Constances study
Journal of Affective Disorders Oct 04, 2018
Matta J, et al. - Researchers analyzed baseline data on 64,861 subjects from the French population-based Constances cohort to assess if diet and physical activity may partly explain the association between depression and the metabolic syndrome. The Center of Epidemiologic Studies Depression (CES-D) scale was used to determine the depressive symptoms and the International Diabetes Federation criteria were used to define the metabolic syndrome. As per path analysis, 23% of the association was explained by diet and physical activity, 67% is attributed to physical activity, however other factors, like inflammation, are involved as well.
