Diagnostic accuracy of optical coherence tomography angiography for choroidal neovascularization: A systematic review and meta-analysis
BMC Ophthalmology Jul 31, 2019
Wang R, et al. - The researchers conducted this systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the diagnostic value of optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA), an advanced imaging technology which has recently been approved for clinical ophthalmology application, in identifying the choroidal neovascularization (CNV). Sixteen eligible studies were enlisted in this research according to pre-set inclusion and exclusion criteria. To examine the diagnostic accuracy of OCTA, a total of 447 CNV eyes and 414 non-CNV eyes were involved. Based on the sensitivity, specificity and, area under the curve, OCTA is a potential and reliable method for detecting CNV in ocular diseases. In the case of CNV presence in one eye, monitoring the other eye may be conducive. Moreover, there is an urgent need for more longitudinal large sample studies to confirm this conclusion.
