Determining clinically-based factors associated with reclassification in the pre-MRI era using a large prospective active surveillance cohort
Urology Jan 08, 2020
Gregg SR, Davis J, Reichard C, et al. - Experts intend to report biopsy-related and oncologic results in a big prospective active surveillance cohort that was initiated in the pre-MRI era and to additionally recognize clinical factors correlated with disease reclassification in order to tell later studies designed to improve enrollment and follow-up on AS. Men with Gleason 6 or 7 disease and those with > 6 months follow-up were prospectively enrolled at a single institution from 2006 to 2014 and followed until 2016. A total of 825 selected individuals, 682 fitted inclusion measures. It was found that baseline stratification utilizing clinical factors involved tumor length might refine risk stratification and give the foundation on which new systems that incorporate modalities such as MRI might be based.
