Determinants of 20-year non-progression to Type 2 diabetes in women at very high risk: The E3N cohort study
Diabetic Medicine Jul 11, 2018
Fagherazzi G, et al. - The most important factors correlated with not developing type 2 diabetes in women considered to be at very high risk were identified in this analysis. Four hundred two women from the E3N cohort study considered to be at very high risk of type 2 diabetes based on the D.E.S.I.R. score were followed between 1995 and 2014. Researchers reported that despite being at very high risk, the top characteristic correlated with not developing type 2 diabetes was a healthy diet, described as limiting Western dietary habits, but with a high intake of antioxidant-rich foods. This emphasized the importance of diet in the prevention of type 2 diabetes in people at high risk.
