Desmoplastic small round cell tumor: Imaging pattern of disease at presentation
American Journal of Roentgenology Mar 01, 2019
Morani AC, et al. - In this retrospective study, researchers assessed the clinical, pathologic, and multimodality cross-sectional imaging features of 94 patients with desmoplastic small round cell tumor (DSRCT). Findings revealed that DSRCT is a rare, multifocal peritoneal malignancy with a frequently disseminated abdominal disease at presentation. The disease most often involves the omentum and peritoneum in the abdomen, followed by retroperitoneum. The most common solid visceral metastatic site was the liver. The data presented in this work showed a significant number of patients are diaphragmatically involved. Most patients had symptoms and the most common symptom was abdominal pain. Nodal and pleural involvement is more common than lung involvement in the thorax.
