Graefe's Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology Mar 15, 2019
Kaiser T, et al. - In this cross-sectional study, researchers studied depressive symptoms, resilience, and personality characteristics in dry eye disease (DED) cases at the Dry Eye Clinic of the Department of Ophthalmology, University Hospital Düsseldorf. They recorded 61% of all subjects as having depressive symptoms, with 25% minimal, 14% mild, 17% moderate, and 5% severe, however depressive symptoms of all levels did not correlate with the severity of signs or symptoms of DED. They observed a correlation of subjective well-being, resilience, and premorbid personality with depressive symptoms, but not with signs or symptoms of DED.
