International Ophthalmology Jun 28, 2018
Alabduljalil T, et al. - Experts ascertained the anatomical development of the human macula using handheld spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) during the first 5 years of life. The anatomical development of the macular inner retinal layers thickness (IRL) completes before 5 months of age and hence before the photoreceptor layer thickness (PRL); as confirmed with the literature. For photoreceptors development in the human macula, 24 months of age was an important developmental milestone.
