Cryptogenic stroke: Contemporary trends, treatments, and outcomes in the United States

Prabhakaran S, Messé SR, Kleindorfer D, et al. - Individuals with ischemic stroke (IS) admitted to Get With The Guidelines (GWTG)-Stroke participating hospitals between January 1, 2016, and September 30, 2017, were discovered in order to assess patient and hospital features, in-hospital treatments, and discharge outcomes among people with cryptogenic stroke (CS) in comparison with other subtypes in the GWTG-Stroke registry. Among 316,623 people from 1,687 hospitals, there were 63,301 individuals with CS. Among persons with a documented stroke etiology, CS accounted for 20% of ISs. Moreover, individuals with CS had a different profile of treatments and outcomes with regard to other subtypes.
