Cost comparison between open radical cystectomy, laparoscopic radical cystectomy, and robot-assisted radical cystectomy for patients with bladder cancer: A systematic review of segmental costs
BMC Urology Nov 18, 2019
Morii Y, Osawa T, Suzuki T, et al. - Using PubMed, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library databases, a systematic review was carried out on the basis of studies on the segmental costs of open, laparoscopic, and robot-assisted radical cystectomy in order to give insight into cost-efficiency management methods for radical cystectomy. Two studies that contrasted open and laparoscopic surgeries and nine that corresponded open and robotic surgeries were involved. The results exhibit that compared with open radical cystectomy, robot-assisted radical cystectomy is more expensive. Moreover, the most efficient methods to reduce costs related to robotic surgery include a reduction in operating time and a rise in the number of cases.
