Cost analysis of magnet-driven growing rods for early-onset scoliosis at 5 years
Spine Dec 21, 2018
Harshavardhana NS, et al. - Nine cases with early-onset scoliosis (EOS) were studied to analyze the comparison of the cost-effectiveness of the magnet-driven growing rod (MdGR) vs conventional growing rods (CGRs) with respect to the payer cost (PC) incurred to treat EOS at 5 years. They observed MdGR alone deemed for at least 50% of the overall budget with 40% more cost-effective as compared to the CGR justifying MdGR, a promising novel implant and might eventually become the “standard of care” for some specific EOS etiologies.
