Coronary flow capacity to identify stenosis associated with coronary flow improvement after revascularization: A combined analysis from DEFINE FLOW and IDEAL
Journal of the American Heart Association Jul 29, 2020
Murai T, Stegehuis VE, van de Hoef TP, et al. - Researchers used the integrated data set from DEFINE FLOW (Distal Evaluation of Functional Performance With Intravascular Sensors to Assess the Narrowing Effect ‐Combined Pressure and Doppler FLOW Velocity Measurements) and IDEAL (Iberian‐Dutch‐English) to quantify coronary flow alterations following percutaneous coronary intervention in relation to the classification of coronary flow capacity (CFC) as well as the current physiological cutoff values of fractional flow reserve, instantaneous wave‐free ratio, and coronary flow reserve (CFR). They evaluated 133 vessels that underwent intracoronary Doppler flow measurement prior to as well as following percutaneous coronary intervention. Prerevascularization lesions were grouped by CFC as normal (14), mildly reduced (40), moderately reduced (31), and severely reduced (48). Overall, CFC demonstrated significant improvement of recognition of lesions that benefit from revascularization vs CFR regarding coronary flow increment.
