Corneal clarity measurements in patients with keratoconus undergoing either penetrating or deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty
Clinical Ophthalmology Apr 05, 2018
Alzahrani K, et al. - Experts compared the corneal clarity measurement between penetrating keratoplasty (PK) and deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty (DALK) in subjects having keratoconus, using densitometry software for the Oculus Pentacam. Findings suggested that depending on the type of corneal transplantation used to treat keratoconus subjects, corneal densitometry measurement exhibited variation. In the final best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) achieved by patients who underwent corneal transplantation for keratoconus, densitometry could have an important role to play. An objective evaluation to monitor the cornea status after the surgery was provided by the analysis of Oculus Pentacam images.
