Contribution of liver fat to weight loss-induced changes in serum hepatokines: A randomized-controlled trial
Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism Feb 16, 2019
Telgenkamp I, et al. - In this cross-sectional study and randomized controlled trial, researchers evaluated if intrahepatic triglyceride (IHTG) content mediates weight loss-induced changes in hepatokines. For this investigation, they included metabolically healthy and lean, and abdominally obese men, and randomized abdominally obese men to 8-week dietary weight-loss or no-weight loss. All hepatokines differed significantly between lean and obese men, with the exception of fetuin B. Findings suggested that dietary loss of weight has differential effects on hepatokines. Based on the results of this study, change in IGF1 serum levels following dietary weight-loss is mediated by the change in IHTG content.
