Continuous glucose monitoring in people with type 1 diabetes on multiple-dose injection therapy: The relationship between glycemic control and hypoglycemia
Diabetes Care Sep 24, 2019
Oliver N, Gimenez M, Calhoun P, et al. - Via analyzing continuous glucose monitoring data from the intervention (rtCGM; real-time continuous glucose monitoring) and control (self-monitored blood glucose) phases of the Multiple Daily Injections and Continuous Glucose Monitoring in Diabetes (DIAMOND) and HypoDE studies, researchers explored the connection between glucose control and hypoglycemia in people with T1D using multiple-dose injection (MDI) regimens, including those at highest risk of hypoglycemia. Findings suggested that using rtCGM can flatten and attenuate the link between overall glucose control and hypoglycemia, exerting its greatest impact on lower HbA1c values and mean glucose levels in people with T1D using MDI regimens and at the highest risk of hypoglycemia.
