Radiology Mar 01, 2019
Auloge P, et al. - In this retrospective study involving 239 consecutive patients, researchers reported the complication rate and associated risk factors for bone tumor cryoablation. Between January 2008 and November 2017, patients who had cryoablation of 320 primary or metastatic bone tumors were included. According to results, the total complication rate of the 320 tumors was 9.1%. Findings revealed that bone tumor cryoablation is safe, with a 2.5% rate of major complications, most commonly secondary fracture (1.2%). Postprocedural pain, peripheral neuropathy and temporary paresthesia were included minor complications. Data reported that major complications were related to an age greater than 70 years and use of more than three cryoprobes.
