Comparison of three different internal fixation implants in the treatment of femoral neck fracture—A finite element analysis
Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research Mar 22, 2019
Li J, et al. - Investigators estimated the data to evaluate 3 different internal fixation implants in the treatment of femoral neck fracture ie, a sliding hip screw, AKA dynamic hip screw, and DHS. They designed a plate which consolidated the strength of both cannulated screws (CCS) and sliding hip screw, through providing 3 dynamic screws at a fixed angle with a side-plate, namely the slide compression anatomic place-femoral neck (SCAP-FN). They noted production of more stable fixation with SCAP-FN with regards to the femur and the stress distributions, stress peaks, and rotational angles. They concluded better performance of SCAP-FN in opposing shearing and rotational forces, and hence achieved the best durability in terms of smallest displacement and rotational angle.
