Cornea Jan 19, 2018
Campagna G, et al. - Researchers undertook an evaluation of the influence of race and ethnicity, surgical technique, and level of surgeon training on the recurrence rates after primary pterygium excision. A greater tendency of pterygium recurrence was disclosed among Hispanic and black patients after amniotic membrane grafting (AMG) than conjunctival autografting (CAG). It was revealed that white patients displayed a lesser likelihood of recurrence than Hispanic or black patients, irrespective of the surgical technique. Consideration of race and ethnicity while opting for the operative technique could reduce the likelihood of recurrence.
