Hahn A, et al. - A comparison of commercial PCR kit and two in-house assays without using a gold standard was performed to realize the sensitivity and specificity of each assay. Observations revealed commercial and in-house assays as comparable regarding results, this suggested in-house tests as safe while affording considerable savings. This made them a valuable alternative for surveillance testing in resource-limited tropical areas.
