Comparison of high‐power short‐duration and low‐power long‐duration radiofrequency ablation for treating atrial fibrillation: Systematic review and meta‐analysis
Clinical Cardiology Dec 19, 2020
Chen CF, Wu J, Jin Cl, et al. - Researchers assessed the clinical benefits of high power shorter duration (HPSD) ablation in patients suffering from atrial fibrillation (AF), by performing this meta‐analysis. They determined whether HPSD confers more clinical benefits than low power longer duration (LPLD) ablation. Studies that compared HPSD and LPLD ablation were identified from Medline, PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library databases. Overall 10 trials comprising 2,467 patients were analyzed. Findings demonstrated safety as well as the efficiency of HPSD for treating AF. HPSD, vs LPLD, was found to be related to benefits of procedural features, higher first‐pass pulmonary vein isolation and decreasing recurrence of atrial arrhythmias. The comparison of these two groups revealed similar major complications and esophageal thermal injury.
