Comparison of health-related quality of Life (HRQOL) among patients with pre-diabetes, diabetes and normal glucose tolerance, using the 15D-HRQOL questionnaire in Greece: The DEPLAN study
BMC Endocrine Disorders Jun 07, 2018
Makrilakis K, et al. - Using the validated health-related quality of life (HRQOL)-15D questionnaire, researchers compared HRQOL of people with pre-diabetes vs those with diabetes or normal glucose tolerance (NGT). People with pre-diabetes were divided into two groups: impaired fasting glucose (IFG) and impaired glucose tolerance (IGT). They did not find differences in any component of the HRQOL-15D score between the control group and the IFG group, nor between the two groups with pre-diabetes (IFG vs IGT). It was observed that those with pre-diabetes had a comparable HRQOL score to healthy people and a higher score than those with diabetes. Findings revealed that specific components of the score, however, were lower in the IGT group compared to the controls. The results obtained from the study illuminated the issue of HRQOL in people with pre-diabetes and its possible effect on prevention.
