Comparison of health-related quality of life between double-door laminoplasty and selective laminoplasty for degenerative cervical myelopathy, with a minimum follow-up of 5 years
Spine Feb 08, 2019
Hirota R, et al. - Researchers assessed 190 candidates to study comparatively, the health-related quality of life (HR-QOL) of double-door laminoplasty (DDL) and selective laminoplasty (SL) in subjects with degenerative cervical myelopathy (DCM) in 2 institutions, with a minimum follow-up of 5 years. They noticed no significant variations regarding age and JOA score at baseline. They noticed higher Neck Disability Index (NDI) score for headache and sleeping in the SL group. The long SL subgroup revealed a lower score in bodily pain in short-form 36 (SF-36), lower and bladder function in Japanese Orthopedic Association Cervical Myelopathy Evaluation Questionnaire (JOACMEQ), and pain intensity, personal care, headache, and sleeping in NDI as compared to other groups.
