Comparison of efficacy of colonoscopy between the morning and afternoon: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Digestive and Liver Diseases Apr 13, 2018
Wu JQ, et al. - Using MEDLINE, Web of Science, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Library databases, researchers gauged the efficacy of afternoon colonoscopy relative to morning colonoscopy in order to determine the rates of adenoma and polyp detection (ADR and PDR) and cecal intubation (CIR). It was determined that ADR was stable during the whole day. As per the outcomes, colonoscopy quality, as indicated by the ADR and CIR, was not influenced by the time of day for procedures performed in block shifts. Nonetheless, a connection was disclosed between endoscopists’ working full-day blocks and inferior bowel preparation with a marked decrease in ADR and CIR in the afternoon.
