Comparison of awake ambulatory blood pressure and automated office blood pressure using linear regression analysis in untreated patients in routine clinical practice
The Journal of Clinical Hypertension Oct 20, 2018
Myers MG, et al. - Using linear regression analysis, researchers compared awake ambulatory blood pressure (BP) levels and automated office (AO)BP levels in untreated patients in a routine clinical practice. For this investigation, they obtained AOBP readings and 24-hour ambulatory BP recordings in 514 untreated patients referred for ambulatory BP monitoring in routine clinical practice. Findings suggested that AOBP should be the preferred method for BP measurement, irrespective of whether the threshold for defining hypertension is 135/85 or 130/80 mmHg when it comes to screening for hypertension in the office. A slightly closer relationship was found between AOBP and awake ambulatory BP at an AOBP of 135/85 mmHg.
