Comparison between radial and femoral access for percutaneous coronary intervention in left main coronary artery disease: A meta-analysis of nonrandomized trials
Coronary Artery Disease Feb 07, 2019
Ye Y, et al. - Researchers investigated the safety and efficacy of transradial access (TRA) vs transfemoral access (TFA) in patients undergoing left main percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Performing a systematic search of Medline, Embase, and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials databases, they identified eight nonrandomized studies including 2,858 patients. Analysis revealed that TRA was comparable to TFA in terms of major adverse cardiac events (MACEs), but was associated with a significantly lower risk of bleeding among patients undergoing left main PCI. TRA is supported as the first choice for left main PCI in selected populations by these findings.
