Comparative study of 0.1% hyaluronic acid vs 0.5% carboxymethylcellulose in patients with dry eye associated with moderate keratitis or keratoconjunctivitis
Clinical Ophthalmology Jun 20, 2018
Groß D, et al. - In patients with moderate keratitis or keratoconjunctivitis related to dry eye disease (DED), experts compared the eye drops containing 0.1% hyaluronic acid (HA) and 0.5% carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) applied one drop three times a day per affected eye. Findings suggested a significant improvement in the DED signs and symptoms with both eye drops. At D84, OS staining improved >54%. With only minor AEs <10%, treatment was well tolerated. Data demonstrated an equal safety and effectiveness of 0.1% HA and 0.5% CMC. Constantly, significant and nonsignificant results were in favor of 0.1% HA.
