Comparative performance of QuantiFERON-TB Gold vs skin test with tuberculosis recombinant allergen (Diaskintest) among patients with suspected pulmonary tuberculosis in Russia
International Journal of Infectious Diseases Jul 05, 2019
Nikitina IY, et al. - Researchers compared Diaskintest and QuantiFERON-TB Gold (QFT) with respect to performances for tuberculosis (TB) detection in adults (n=85) and children (n=96) with suspected TB in Moscow (Russia). In 84% adults and 90% children, Diaskintest and QFT were found to be concordant. In adults, good concordance was reported between QFT, Diaskintest, and the final diagnosis, while it was moderate in children. For detecting TB, the sensitivity of QFT was higher than that of Diaskintest in adults, whereas, in children, a higher sensitivity was yielded by Diaskintest. Higher sensitivity and specificity were obtained with combined Diaskintest/QFT results vs each test separately. The costs associated with Diaskintest were low. The test-positivity rate displayed by Diaskintest was similar to QFT. For TB detection, Diaskintest can be used in the combination with QFT as adjunctive tests.
