Comparable survival in ischemic and nonischemic cardiomyopathy secondary to ventricular tachyarrhythmias and aborted cardiac arrest
Coronary Artery Disease May 05, 2019
Rusnak J, et al. - Using a large retrospective registry, researchers identified and examined patients presenting with ventricular tachyarrhythmias and aborted sudden cardiac arrest (SCA), to determine the influence of ischemic cardiomyopathy (ICMP) and nonischemic cardiomyopathy (NICMP) on secondary survival in these subjects. Long-term all-cause mortality at 2.5 years was the primary prognostic end point. Propensity score matching was used. Overall 276 matched patients were examined. They found that secondary survival following episodes of ventricular tachyarrhythmias or SCA on admission was comparable between ICMP and NICMP.
