Cohort contributions to trends in the incidence and mortality of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma
Hepatobiliary Surgery and Nutrition Aug 17, 2018
Beal EW, et al. - Using age-period-cohort (APC) modeling, researchers assessed the contribution of cohort effects to trends in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) incidence and mortality in the US. For this investigation, they collected incidence data from the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End-Results (SEER) program. In addition, mortality data were gathered from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention WONDER Database. They found that ICC incidence and mortality had increased over time in the US. Among males, birth cohort effects influenced increased ICC incidence and ICC mortality. However, this effect was not evident in the trend of ICC mortality among females.
