Clinically relevant differences in the selection of toric intraocular lens power in normal eyes: Preoperative measurement vs intraoperative aberrometry
Clinical Ophthalmology Jun 03, 2019
Davison JA, et al. - Researchers performed a retrospective data review at one US clinical site of eyes that underwent uncomplicated cataract surgery with toric intraocular lens (IOL) implantation in order to appraise the determinative value of intraoperative aberrometry (IA) for toric IOL power in eyes with no previous ocular surgery. Results comparable to those of IA were achieved with modern IOL calculations for sphere. They noted higher value of IA in determining IOL cylinder power and orientation when comparing expected results between IA and a preoperative method based on measured total corneal astigmatism vs when comparing to expected results from the Barrett toric calculator.
