Clinical value of triage lactate in risk stratifying trauma patients using interval likelihood ratios
The American Journal of Emergency Medicine Oct 12, 2017
Baron BJ, et al. - This study sought to determine the value of triage lactate (LAC) in predicting mortality after trauma. In addition, researchers computed interval likelihood ratios (LR) for LAC. As per findings, triage LAC was statistically able to identify patients at high risk of mortality in a cohort of trauma patients with a wide spectrum of characteristics. However, clinically meaningful contribution to decision-making was observed only at LAC > 9. LAC seemed not relevant for excluding those with a low risk of mortality.
