Clinical outcomes of second-generation limus-eluting stents compared to paclitaxel-eluting stents for acute myocardial infarction with cardiogenic shock
PLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases Apr 06, 2019
Mao CT, et al. - Researchers investigated the cardiovascular (CV) outcomes of second-generation limus-eluting stents (LESs) vs those of paclitaxel-eluting stents (PESs) in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) complicated by cardiogenic shock (CS) using the Taiwan National Health Insurance Research Database. Data from 516 patients with AMI and CS was retrieved; 197 subjects used second-generation LESs and 319 subjects used PESs. Outcomes at the 12-month follow-up revealed that the risk of coronary revascularization and composite CV events (myocardial infarction, coronary revascularization or CV death) were significantly reduced in patients who underwent second-generation LES implantation vs PES implantation.
