Clinical features of post cardiac injury syndrome following catheter ablation of arrhythmias: Systematic review and additional cases
Heart, Lung, and Circulation Oct 11, 2018
Li W, et al. - Researchers determined the clinical features of ablation-associated post-cardiac injury syndrome (PCIS) by analyzing 21 cases of PCIS following ablation, including 19 published cases identified via a computerized literature search and 2 new cases from their centers. They found that the occurrence of PCIS was most common following atrial flutter/fibrillation (AFL/AF) ablation, followed by atrioventricular re-entrant tachycardia (AVRT) ablation, atrioventricular node (AVN) ablation, atrioventricular nodal re-entrant tachycardia (AVNRT) ablation, and ventricular tachycardia (VT) ablation. PCIS following AFL/AF ablation was essentially characterized by pulmonary infiltrate, which could be misdiagnosed as pneumonia. Despite being troublesome and even dangerous entity, PCIS carried a benign prognosis.
