European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology Mar 01, 2020
Kim HY, et al. - In this investigation involving 25 patients who had surgical treatment for hard palate tumors between 2008 and 2018, researchers determined the clinical features and treatment outcomes of benign and malignant tumors of the hard palate in the hospital. Of the 25 individuals with hard palate tumors, 15 had benign tumors and 10 had malignant tumors. Palate mass was the most common symptom of hard palate tumor. Pleomorphic adenoma was the most common benign tumor. Squamous cell carcinoma and carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma were the most common malignant tumors. The comparison of benign and malignant hard palate tumor clinical features showed a statistical significance only for the starting time of the oral intake. Transoral surgical removal with clear margin for benign and malignant hard palate tumors is a safe and effective procedure.
