Clinical course of COVID-19 patients treated with ECMO: A Multicenter Study in Daegu, South Korea
Heart & Lung; The Journal of Acute and Critical Care Oct 22, 2020
Jang WS, Kim JB, Baek J, et al. - Researchers sought to report on the clinical course of COVID-19 patients treated with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). In this multicenter study, they assessed 80 patients with COVID-19 receiving mechanical ventilation support; of these patients, 19 (24%) were treated with ECMO (median age 63.0 years). Per observations, ECMO weaning and mortality rates were 42% and 58% during the COVID-19 epidemic, respectively. The univariate analysis suggested vitamin B12 treatment to be associated with successful ECMO weaning.
