Clinical characteristics of adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma infiltration in the gastrointestinal tract
BMC Gastroenterology Sep 17, 2020
Miike T, Kawakami H, Kameda T, et al. - Researchers undertook this retrospective observational single-center study to determine clinical features of adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATLL) infiltration in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Participants were 40 consecutive ATLL patients on whom GI endoscopy was performed. A significant link between absence of skin lesions and GI infiltration was demonstrated in multivariate analysis. The infiltration group showed a tendency to have similar macroscopic lesions in the upper and lower GI tracts, for example, diffuse type, tumor-forming type, and giant-fold type. Based on these findings, for ATLL patients without skin lesions, GI endoscopy may be considered.
