Chemotherapy is associated with increased survival from colorectal signet ring cell carcinoma with distant metastasis: A Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database analysis
Cancer Medicine Mar 18, 2019
Shi T, et al. - Researchers sought prognostic factors of colorectal signet ring cell carcinoma (SRCC) with different metastatic sites. For metastatic colorectal SRCC, they also assessed the effects of various therapies. From the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database, they identified 173,460 patients, and 1,932 (1.11%) of them had colorectal SRCC. For SRCC patients, the peritoneum was the site with the greatest metastatic frequency and the worst prognosis. They observed better survival in correlation with chemotherapy for colorectal SRCC patients with distant metastasis vs nonmetastatic colorectal SRCC patients.
