Characteristics and prognostic implications of tricuspid regurgitation in patients with arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy
ESC Heart Failure Jul 25, 2020
Jeong H, Song S, Seo J, et al. - By retrospectively analyzing data of 52 patients with arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy (AC) meeting 2010 Task Force criteria in a single centre, researchers determined the features as well as prognostic implications of tricuspid regurgitation (TR) in patients with AC. A composite of mortality, heart transplantation, and tricuspid valve surgery was the primary endpoint. A higher prevalence of atrial fibrillation as well as a higher mean N‐terminal pro brain natriuretic peptide was observed in patients with severe TR vs other groups. A poorer prognosis was reported in patients with significant TR vs those with no or mild TR. In Cox regression analysis, significant TR was identified as an independent prognostic factor. Overall, in patients with AC, significant TR at initial diagnosis was identified as a poor prognostic factor.
