Characteristics and outcomes of patients ≤ 75 years who underwent transcatheter aortic valve implantation: Insights from the SOURCE 3 Registry
Clinical Research in Cardiology Dec 19, 2018
Frank D, et al. - Patients < 75 years old who underwent transcatheter valve implantation (TAVI) in the SAPIEN 3 European post-approval SOURCE 3 Registry were investigated for comorbidities and were analysed for outcomes at 30 days and 1 year. Researchers analyzed 3 age groups of patients for outcomes and characteristics: < 75 (n = 235), 75–80 (n = 391) and ≥ 80 years (n = 1320). They observed that patients younger than 75 years are a minority (12%) in current TAVI practice. This cohort had comorbidities that did not account for by traditional surgical risk scores despite younger age and lower surgical risk scores.
