Changes in ocular surface status after phacoemulsification in patients with senile cataract
International Ophthalmology Jun 24, 2018
Kohli P, et al. - Authors assessed the signs and symptoms of dry eye following phacoemulsification and its impacts on the status of ocular surface using impression cytology. They also evaluated the associated risk factors. The “dry eye” status demonstrated a transient deterioration post-phacoemulsification. A careful counselling of the patients regarding evanescent nature of the disease was suggested. In order to neutralize astigmatism without any fear of inducing dry eye, an incision can be given at the site of high corneal curvature. Experts suggested the use of minimum light exposure and ultrasound energy during the surgery.
