Changes in obesity among US children aged 2 through 4 years enrolled in WIC during 2010-2016
JAMA Jun 22, 2019
Pan L, et al. - Via the present study, the researchers examined trends in overweight and obesity by age, sex, and race/ethnicity using women, infants, and children (WIC) data from 2010 to 2016. Primarily among children from lower-income families, a high prevalence of childhood obesity in the United States was noticed. An increase in obesity prevalence between 2000 and 2010 followed by a decline through 2014 amongst children aged 2 through 4 years who registered in the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for WIC was seen. Further, among all racial/ethnic groups and in 34 of 56 state WIC agencies, the decline was noted quite statistically significant.
